Sugars Mega Sweet
2009 Bay Filly
Indigo Mega - Jac's Little Martha by Mainly Marty
Sugar came to Icon Farms in the summer of 2011. She has a solid pedigree for reining, but her purchase was with my heart. I owned Sugars grandma Dry N Sweet when i bought Sweetie back in 2007 she was in foal to Indigo Mega.. She foaled a beautiful Dun filly. Sadly Sweetie passed away 2 months after foaling, so we hand raised baby Marty. In the Summer of 2009 we decided to purchase the land up here. The day before we were to leave we went to see Marty and we found her dead. She and her pasture mate had been killed by a lightning strike.. It devastated me. However I had to pick up Cat and Daisy and I had a farm to build.
I had purchased Sweetie from the lady who bred Sugar and I knew she had the mare and filly. I think the fact that Sugar was born bay, when her sire and grand-sire are grulla was a bit of a let down to her. But I could always tell Sugar was special.. It was just hard to try and decide to buy her, when we had to buy well bred mares to develop a foundation for our breeding program. With 4 nice mares and plenty of room to grow. So we finally agreed to purchase Sugar.
The first day her she was nervous and wanting to be with everyone, however i was keeping her in quarantine for a week before i let her get near the others.. Well she decided that the 24ft by 24 ft square pen she was in was not right, so she jumped the 4 ft high fence out.. So she is my reining bred jumping trail horse lol.. I am happy to see her face every day. She makes me very happy.
